Vincent A. Scavo, Jr., MD, a cardio-thoracic surgeon with Lutheran Medical Group, sees patients as part of CMH's Specialty Clinics. He specializes in minimally invasive off-pump coronary artery bypass, esophageal, and thoracic noncardiac surgeries.
Dr. Scavo graduated from Purdue University in 1990, where he played varsity football and received Phi Beta Kappa honors. He earned a medical degree from Loyola University School of Medicine in Chicago in 1994 and was elected to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. In 2002, he completed general and cardiothoracic surgery residencies at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, and he received several awards, including Surgical Resident of the Year, the dean's Surgical Socrates Award for Surgical Teaching Excellence and Surgical Chief Resident of the Year. He also received the Carl H. McCaskey Subspecialty Surgery Research Award.
