CMH Foundation Announces Scholarship Winners
HICKSVILLE, OH—The Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) Foundation has awarded four $1,500 scholarships to deserving students pursuing degrees in healthcare. Winners were chosen based on field of study, GPA, and an essay. CMH Foundation scholarships are awarded annually in memory of Rachel Hofmeister and Stevie Boon, both former Directors of Nursing at CMH, and Betty Altman, former RN and Board Member at CMH.
This year’s scholarship recipients are Grant Smalley (Hicksville, OH), Emilie Heersche (Edgerton, OH), Patience Doctor (Woodburn, IN), and Tara Garza (Hicksville, OH).
Grant Smalley completed his homeschooling program in 2012. He will attend either Defiance College or Lourdes University majoring in Biology, with the goal of attending medical school to become a family physician.
Emilie Heersche is a 2012 graduate of Edgerton HS. She will attend The Ohio State University majoring in nursing, with the goal of receiving her Registered Nurse (RN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees. She would eventually like to become a nurse anesthetist (CRNA).
Patience Doctor completed her homeschooling program in 2010. She currently attends Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana, working towards her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
Tara Garza is a full-time RN at Community Memorial Hospital. She is working towards her Masters of Science degree in Nursing at Graceland University, with the goal of becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.
